We went ashore in the kayaks and when back at the boat we rinsed with fresh water. All very normal. Except the on-shore breeze carried the water vapor…onshore, and soon we were invaded by bees. Two scouts, then four, then the entire hive came to visit.
Once upon a time we met a guy who’d known an old wife who told him a tale. “Put a bowl of water at the bow for the bees, and they’ll leave you alone.”
So we did, and they did. When the sun went down they all went home.
The old wife gets 8 out of 10 for this idea. No bees are better than bees, but bees on the bow are better than bees in the cabin.
