We wobbled around Isla San Jose for a few spectacular days.
We found this dead turtle at Mangle Solo, which is sad, but he may be the most epic-ly awesome dead turtle ever, so it’s cool.
Then we found this turtle nest at Punta Salinas, which was all dug up, which was sad.*
Then we followed the turtle tracks to the beach (up is right and down is left) and found that they were covered with surge from Hurricane Newton, which was five or six weeks earlier. So it’s possible that the turtle nest had actually hatched and the baby turtles made it back to mother ocean. Which is good.
*It’s also possible that the nest was dug up by greenery people and the eggs hatched under controlled conditions and the baby turtles made it back to mother ocean. This would be good, but weird.
